We’re about to host a live stream about the next survey:

New proposals for this survey:

• Introduce DOM diffing (1:31)
• Create mix-ins for drag, drop, & swipe events (5:13)
• Server-side stache templates that support incremental rendering (15:56)
• Make steal-tools auto-detect bundle config in import() (19:28)
• Improve StealJS build performance and watch mode (21:41)
• Include “critical styles” in SSR output (24:36)

Proposals in this survey that have been in previous surveys:

• Add a Data Guide (28:37)
• Make a simplified routing solution (29:28)
• Make StealJS de-duplicate less imports (30:55)
• Observable Finite State Machines (33:18)
• Show inherited and mixed in values in the CanJS docs (35:33)
• Transition away from donejs-cli in favor of npm init / npm run commands (37:24)
• “Transparent” rendering of components (8:17)

Proposals we’re considering for future surveys:

• Create a “CanJS” version of the in-depth guide
• Improve warnings / error messages (e.g. Improve the “Ignoring keys” warning)
• Support pre-compiled component views
• Consolidate YouTube and Gitter channels

I have a question about something touched upon in the live stream that’s not necessarily tied to an individual topic; hopefully it’s okay to ask in this thread. Why would not having components be faster? Or asked inversely, why are can components slower and how much slower? Thanks.

EDIT:

From the video it sounds like it’s mostly due to the fact that can component listens to mutations and events which non components don’t have functionality for. Is this correct?
